Nothing special

Not too many to post tonight.  I was sorting through my backlog of photos, getting them categorized, and found a couple I thought may be worth sharing.  Enjoy!

River of Time

Every September, Bay City Michigan plays host to a living history reenactment, known as the River of Time.  Set in Veterens Park, along the Saginaw River, this event features reenactors  portraying historical periods from the French and Indian war through the Vietnam era.  Settlers, Voyageurs, Revolutionary and Civil war figures all play a part.  There is even a camp portraying early Boy and Girl Scouts (of which our own Boy Scout Troop 111 takes part).  Here are a few shots showing the event and the people.

Honesty

A few days ago I was shocked to receive an email from the host of this blog, informing me that my blog was determined to be spam site, and was therefore deleted.  Fortunately, after submitting an appeal, my blog was reinstated within 12 hours.  I appreciate that they are taking steps to control such things as spamming, and my issue was resolved very quickly.

However, I am distressed that false information was distributed.  I would hate to think that I may have contributed to a lie being told, even if it was not on purpose.  Therefore I have decided to make things right, so that they are no longer false in their original assessment of my site.  Because honesty is so important, I hereby post the following picture:

Rogers City

We all went up to see my wife’s parents this last weekend, up in Rogers City, Michigan, on the shore of Lake Huron.  I was able to get out and capture a few shots.

My Announcement

For a few days now I have been teasing you all about something exciting (at least for me it is exciting). And since family members are beginning to threaten me, I have decided to let you all in on my news. I have been offered an opportunity to exhibit my photographs at an establishment in downtown Bay City. We have scheduled it for January, so I have a few months to prepare. And this will be part of Bay City’s “1st Thursday Gallery Walk”, where art displayed in a number of venues is highlighted. I will be there that day for a “meet the artist”. This is a very exciting opportunity for me, something I have always wanted to do. As details come together, I will share with all of you.

And now for tonights photos, of……

St. Stanislaus Church, Bay City Michigan

In my opinion, the most beautiful building in Bay City is St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, in the south end. It is so large, it looks like a cathedral. I finally got down there to capture a few images of this building. It was late in the evening, and the sun had just set, so I was only able to get a few before it became too dark.

An Evening on the Front Porch

Or, what to do while waiting for the door to door gutter salesman to make his measurements.

Yesterday we were visited by a salesman who had stopped by to measure the house for new gutters.  While Wendy and I waited on the front porch, I began to notice some interesting things (OK Wendy noticed most of them).  I grabbed my camera, which is always ready to go, and I began shooting.

Apparently, some mud dauber wasps decided to rent some space on our front window.  Fortunately, they moved out by the time I found the nest.

Hmmmm, I think I saw this guy in a Disney cartoon once.  Picture a coat and top hat.  “When you wish upon a star…….”  (wait, that was a cricket.  Never mind).

Thanks for stopping by!  I love your company.  Something rather exciting is developing (for me anyway), regarding my pictures.  Stay tuned!

Thanks

I wanted to thank everyone that comes to visit my site, for you continued support and your patience.  I am sorry I have not posted anything new the last few days, but I have been under the weather.   I have some new shots that will prepare and post soon, plus some exciting news to report.  Until then, please keep checking back.

Thank you to all of you!

A Little Bit of Nature

I took a walk around Bay City State Recreation Area this morning, and was fortunate to find that nature was still there, going strong.   I could hear many birds, although most of them remained hidden.  A couple of them did come out where I could see them, however.  So here are a couple shots from my morning walk.

Here it that dang chipmunk again.  He won’t stop following me.  Every time I go out to take pictures, he shows up somewhere along the path.

This small woodpecker did not seem to mind my presence.  He finally stopped moving long enough for me to snap this shot.

This wildflower, however, sat very still for me.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you will join me for my next nature walk, too.

Fowl Play

I finally got off my lazy rear, and went off on a safari this morning.  Unfortunately it was shortened by some rain, but I did get a couple of good pictures.  The birds were very cooperative today, and posed nicely for me.

Gone to the Dogs

Hello there friends!  I decided today to post some pictures of my dog, Shelby.  Why?  Because I can.  Besides, she is awful cute.  Shelby is a 9 year old wire-haired Fox Terrier.  She is also know affectionately as Psychodog.  A great pet and family member, she has provided far too many good pictures than I can show here today.  So I have selected a few that I like and will share them with you now.  Enjoy!

Here is typical Shelby, decked out for Christmas.
