Every September, Bay City Michigan plays host to a living history reenactment, known as the River of Time. Set in Veterens Park, along the Saginaw River, this event features reenactors portraying historical periods from the French and Indian war through the Vietnam era. Settlers, Voyageurs, Revolutionary and Civil war figures all play a part. There is even a camp portraying early Boy and Girl Scouts (of which our own Boy Scout Troop 111 takes part). Here are a few shots showing the event and the people.
A fife and drum corps.
I LOVE the bagpipe players!

Revolutionary war soldiers.
There are reenactors of all ages here.
The blacksmith.
We are privileged to have some famous people. Here is Father Jacques Marquette, founder of Michigan’s earliest European Settlement, Sault Ste. Marie.
I am sure there is no need to introduce this President of the United States.
These are really great. It looks like such a good time. I really loved the kiddies dressing up. How precious. I hope it wasn't too hot..those costumes can be unspeakably warm.
ReplyDeleteNicely done Sir! Thanks for posting.
I loved those kids, they were so adorable. Actually it was pretty cool. Notice Abe had a blanket over his shoulder. I would have thought they would be hot in the costumes too.
