Skyline Caverns

Yep, still working on the vacation shots!  During our stay in Front Royal, VA, we took a trip a short way up the road to visit Skyline Caverns.  It was a lot of fun, and I would hate to have you miss it.  So, grab your flashlight and your miner’s helmet, because we are going down…

There are a wide variety of formations down here…

I know, I know, the colors are not natural.  But you must admit the lighting is pretty.

Nope, this is not mold.  It is a very rare crystal formation called Anthrodites.

  1. I love these. They remind me so much of home and visiting The Ohio Caverns. It never mattered to me that they put those colored bulbs in there. I always oooe'd and awwww'd like fireworks were going off. Those are some lovely shots. Thanks for posting them.

  2. Thanks Tess. I love caverns, and they are definitely a photographic challenge. That whole no light, it is underground thing. The pictures really do not do it justice, of course. But I like them just the same.
